About Me
A long time ago in a town not so far away…
I’m creative, both in the traditional sense and in the way I problem-solve. I am a fast learner and work hard. There is always more to learn and another puzzle to solve. I have experience working on teams, and leading others. I am task-oriented and adaptable.
I’m married, 40 years old, and I live in Cambridge with my wife and our two dogs. I’ve had a lot of varied experiences in my life. I have a degree in criminal justice, worked in the service industry mainly in rock clubs, taught public school students for 8 years, have a Master’s degree in teaching math, a certificate for web development, and most recently I’ve completed an immersive course to become a UI/UX Designer.
UI/UX fits a lot of my interests and strengths. I am an observant and analytical person. I am constantly viewing the world around me and making editorial judgments on behavior, design layouts, commercials, you name it. It drives my wife crazy. As a creative person who loves color and playing with typefaces UI/UX is fun for me. There is something about UI/UX that also speaks to my love of puzzles. Each design, each feature is a puzzle waiting to be solved.
There are times when I want to work solo on something, but having peers to work with is incredibly valuable to me. The primary way I improved as a teacher was by learning from my colleagues. Certainly, I have my own experiences and skills that are valuable, but I also pride myself on knowing that I’m not the best at what I do, and there are people around me that can help me improve. Learning and growing as a person and a designer is important to me.
